About a year later, Marla suddenly relocated to Los Angeles, California in the middle of her tenth grade year due to her parents’ divorce. Although Marla and Dave were physically separated, they continued to keep in touch and remained friends.

As young love goes, Marla and Dave drifted apart and eventually began dating other people. Marla had a beautiful baby girl, Moniece, as the result of a relationship with another young man whom she was going to marry. However, Marla did not go through with the marriage and she returned to Huntsville, Alabama with Moniece. Upon her return to Huntsville, Marla and Dave reconnected. They revived their friendship and it blossomed into love. Dave’s commitment to Marla never wavered. They were married on March 25, 1988.

Marla and Dave have enjoyed almost 20 years of marriage. During that time, they were blessed with two more beautiful children, David II, and Drew Alexis. They have lived in Huntsville, Alabama, Nashville, Tennessee and currently reside in the Los Angeles area. Dave has traveled the world entertaining fans as a member of ten time Grammy award winning acapella sextet, “Take 6”. Marla is a life and fitness coach inspiring people on a daily basis. Her motto is “true change happens from the inside out”.

Marla and Dave’s marriage has not been without its tests and trials, however the principles of unconditional love, friendship and mutual respect have proven to be the keys to their successful marriage.
